In this last case a number of arrests were made by the Police and charges are now under investigation by the Police Magistrate. A Chinese Constable has been charged by the Captain Superintendent for aiding the Triads in this case.
7. The Committee recommend:
(a) the banishment of some of the leading and active members;
(2) 293
(3) the issue of a proclamation warning the Triads that their objects and practices are illegal;
(4) that an Ordinance be passed suppressing the Triads and all secret societies, the existing law on the subject being insufficient;
(d) that persons returning from banishment be watched;
(e) that on the arrest of any member of the Triad Society notice should be given inviting persons to show cause why he should not be banished or called upon to furnish security;
(f) that better provision be made for the sale of fire-arms and swords.
